Date: May 4th
First Participant Starts: 9:00 AM
First wave transportation starts: 8:30 AM

The event consists of a 1.5-mile kayak paddle, followed by a 2.5-mile trail run.

Packet Pickup:
EARLY - Friday, May 3rd – 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Gervasi Vineyard Villa Grande
RACE DAY – Opens at 7:30 AM - Outside the Marketplace

Wave Starts:
Due to the narrowness of the creek, each kayaker will launch individually. As soon as one kayak is in the water, the next participant will start. Each person will receive a life jacket in the staging area. Put on your life jacket, make sure your timing tag is secure and wait for the signal to start.

Arrival Times:
When you registered, you chose a wave. This is to eliminate the long wait. Please arrive at Gervasi at least 45 minutes prior to your wave. You will board the bus ~20 minutes prior to your wave time. A monitor will verify your wave. You may NOT jump to an earlier wave or you will inconvenience your fellow competitors.

Water Level:
Based on rainfall the week prior to the event, the water level may vary. If it is low, there are a few spots that you will have to navigate to avoid running aground.
If there is significant rainfall and the water is unsafe, the kayak portion will be cancelled and the event will become a trail run/walk only. There are no refunds.

Kayaks and Lifejackets:
There are plenty of kayaks, paddles and life jackets, which will be cycled back to the staging area as participants finish the kayak portion. Since you are being chip timed at the start and finish, your net time does not begin until you actually cross the start line. There is a very good likelihood that there will be some minor delays in getting the equipment cycled back to the start, so please be patient.

Timing and Results:
At packet pickup, you will receive a bib with a disposable timing chip. Your time starts when you cross the strip at the starting line. You will run across Martindale Park to the water’s edge, where volunteers will help you into the kayak and launch you into the creek. At the end of the creek portion, volunteers will help you out of the kayak, remove your life jacket so you can start the trail run portion. Your total time will be recorded as you cross the finish line at Gervasi Vineyard. Since participants will start individually, official results will not be available until all participants have finished.

Water stop:
There will be self-serve water available when you exit the kayak. Trash containers will be positioned for your convenience.

Please monitor the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Gear drop will be available at Martindale Park and your bag will be transported to the finish line while you are on the course.

Parking and Transportation:
The parking lots closest to 55th Street at Gervasi Vineyard are available on race day. THERE IS NO PARTICIPANT OR SPECTATOR PARKING ALLOWED AT MARTINDALE PARK.

Overall top ten men and women will receive awards. There will be no age group awards or awards ceremony. Awards will be mailed. Results will be posted after the race.

The “Wine Later” Part:
In your packet, you will receive a voucher good for $10 worth of wine, beverage or food at the Crush House or the Bistro. You are free to purchase additional food and beverage. The Crush House will open at 10:00 AM on race day, and the Bistro will be open for lunch and dinner. Reservations are strongly recommended for the Bistro. The Crush House does not accept reservations. Weather permitting, the outdoor Piazza will be open for service as well.
